Pomuni Frozen awarded ‘Factory of the Future’ for the second time!
Ranst, [11/02/2026] – Pomuni Frozen can once again call itself a Factory of the Future. The Belgian-based family company receives the recognition for the second time, confirming its forward-looking approach, with a strong focus on sustainability and efficient production. This vision is driven by the craftsmanship and commitment of its employees, who are known within the company as the ‘potato heroes’.
The Factory of the Future award is an initiative of the technology federation Agoria and research centre Sirris, in collaboration with sector federations such as Flanders’ FOOD and Essenscia. The recognition is awarded every three years to manufacturing companies that excel in future-oriented entrepreneurship, following a thorough audit. The evaluation looks at areas such as digitalization, advanced production techniques, people-centric organization, and sustainable value chains.
Pomuni Frozen is part of Pomuni, a family business with nearly one hundred years of history, now led by the fourth generation of the Muyshondt family. This family foundation translates into a clear long-term vision: to grow in a fair and determined way into a preferred partner in potato products.
As a producer of frozen potato specialties, Pomuni Frozen positions itself as a fully supportive partner for large customers. By keeping the entire chain in-house – from potato to end product – the company combines scale with flexibility and strict quality control.
Over the past three years, Pomuni Frozen has invested heavily in digitalization, process optimization, and sustainable production methods. According to the auditors, the company particularly stands out for the clear progress made since the previous recognition and the strong support across the organization. “This award is first and foremost a compliment to our people,” says plant manager Gert Van Lommel. “Their craftsmanship and commitment make the difference.”
Looking ahead to 2028, when Pomuni celebrates its centenary, the company is working on a responsible growth trajectory. “As a family business, we don’t think in quarters, but in generations,” says CEO Ben Muyshondt. “For us, sustainable growth is not a buzzword, but a responsibility.”
